‘The baby formerly known as genital!’ Amy Schumer brings son Gene for virtual playdate with Andy Cohen’s baby Ben… after revealing shock reason she had to change his name

Amy Schumer brought her son Gene on-screen to see Andy Cohen’s baby Ben during a virtual appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Tuesday.

As the boys – aged 11 months and 14 months respectively – have been kept apart due to lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic, they saw each other on-screen.

The appearance comes after the comedian, 38, made the shock revelation that she was forced to officially change Gene’s name when she realised his original name – Gene Attell Fisher – sounded like ‘genital’.

Amy and Andy, 51, both brought out their sons so they could see each other virtually and wave hello after Andy revealed he counted Amy’s 11-month-old as one of his 14-month-old son Ben’s only friends of the same age.

Andy said: ‘Sadly our playdates have been halted since the quarantine,’ Andy said before launching into a game called, ‘One, Two, Baby!’.

They both admitted during the game that they ‘hate’ baby shark and that their nannies change more diapers than they do.

Andy asked which one of them makes Gene and Ben laugh more and they both agreed that Amy does. Amy and Andy both also concurred that she curses more in front of her son.

‘We don’t even try not to,’ Amy admitted. ‘He misses Ben so much. I really miss seeing him,’ Amy said. ‘Ben misses Gene,’ Andy said.

The appearance came after Amy revealed she’s changed her son’s name after realizing it sounded like ‘genital’. After welcoming her first child with husband Chris Fisher on May 5 2019 and named him Gene Attell Fisher.

The middle name was chosen in honor of her close friend and fellow comic Dave Attell. On podcast 3 Girls, 1 Keith, the Trainwreck star revealed this week that the couple have now changed Gene’s middle name.

Back on Watch What Happens Live, Andy mentioned how he and Amy spoke about two months ago about wanting to keep their children out of the spotlight.

They both said the quarantine changed their mind.

‘We’re all home and, you know, either you’re gonna be sharing this sort of intimate part of yourself or you’re not going to share anything,’ Amy said.

‘I feel like it makes me feel better and happier to see people’s families and whatever right now. Those rules have kind of gone out the window,’ Amy said.
