Boy George has asked his fans to pray for his ‘beautiful mother’ after she was hospitalised and doctors said they ‘won’t resuscitate if things go wrong.’

While medical experts have yet to determine if Dinah O’Dowd’s medical issues are down to her heart or lungs, the singer, 58, does not think she has Covid: 19.

But he questioned the ‘do not resuscitate’ order saying how can doctors know that it definitely won’t work.

In 2017, he detailed how he once kept his mother alive following an overdose.

Talking on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, he said: ‘She took pills. I remember sort of keeping her awake and not really understanding what had happened.’

Referencing the problems between his mother and father, George had said: ‘I used to tell my mum to leave my dad when I was like nine.

‘I loved my father don’t get me wrong, I really loved him, but he wasn’t a good dad and he wasn’t a good husband.’

In a previous interview with The Guardian, Boy George admitted he was the ‘deranged’ middle child who was very different to his siblings.

He said: ‘I’m the middle, needy, child. The middle child is always deranged. My brother Kevin, who was born the year after me, was born with tapeworm and nearly died.

‘For about two years I was kind of not that important. I don’t know whether that had a profound effect on me.

‘All I remember about being a child is being quite independent. I used to go off a lot and walk for miles and, from about 11, I remember discovering where David Bowie lived and I used to go and sit outside his house.

‘I wasn’t interested in the sort of things my brothers were interested in. They liked Farrah Fawcett-Majors and beautiful girls and I liked Bowie, jewellery and Busby Berkeley. Family to me is stability, it’s reliability.’
