‘They keep me sane’: Alesha Dixon says her kids ‘structure’ her lockdown routine as star reveals she treats herself to just one glass of wine a week

She’s been enjoying quality time with her family ever since the UK was plunged into lockdown amid the coronavirus crisis.

And Alesha Dixon has revealed her children have been ‘keeping her sane’ and prevent her from drinking too much alcohol amid the pandemic.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 41, who shares daughters Anaya, seven months, and six-year-old Azura, with partner Azuka Ononye, insisted she treats herself to just one glass of wine a week, and has been keeping in shape by working out every two days.

Admitting she spent the first weeks of lockdown ‘baking and drinking wine’, the media personality said: ‘I said, “Nah, I can’t do this for three months.”

‘Having children is what keeps me sane. There’s always that part of me that says, “You’ve got to keep it together for your girls.” If I didn’t have them I’d probably drink more wine.

‘On a Saturday if I’ve been good then I can have some wine. It sounds so rock and roll. For me, having that plan really helps. I need structure.’

In the interview with yoga teacher Daniella Davis-Taylor obtained by The Mirror, the former Mis-Teeq member revealed that while she ‘likes who she is’ when she follows a healthy lifestyle, the presenter often enjoys sipping on cocktails with dancer Azuka.

The songstress said: ‘I’m enjoying teaching, my partner and I take it in turns.

‘Azura is still adjusting to it but she’s getting the hang of it. I’m missing having routine in my life, taking it one step at a time. We are very lucky that we have each other.

‘Before I got into the industry, I wanted to be a teacher. I write on a chalkboard and tell my daughter to call me Miss Dixon.’
