Would you accept this proposal?

‘Sooo. This happened! Did I say “yes”?! Of course I did. The best part? That’s his great grandmother’s ring. Happy birthday to me,’ the bride-to-be said.

It’s unclear where she’s from but her post was later shared in a wedding shaming Facebook group, and was quickly met with hundreds of comments.

Many were shocked to see the sentimental piece of jewellery being covered in sausage grease, while others said they were ‘offended’ on behalf of the bride-to-be.

‘I didn’t even see the ring at first and then, there it was, circling a greasy sausage. Grandma would’ve been thrilled to know she passed down an heirloom ring that would one day be featured in fatty breakfast foods,’ one woman said.

Another added: ‘I’m all for unique proposals but I hate when they include food and drinks. I told my husband when he was proposing he could do anything as long as he doesn’t put it inside anything like that.’

One woman said: ‘I didn’t think it was that bad until I looked at the second photo. Looks like a cadaver hand. Also I couldn’t marry someone who eats their eggs that well done.’

One man said: ‘Nothing says “Marry Me” like insinuating your bride has sausage fingers,’ while another added “creative, yes! Creepy AF, YES. This picture gives off serial killer vibes.’

Others said they were curious to know he came up with the proposal idea.

‘I’m just curious, how does one decide this is how to propose? I mean, you decide to propose to your girlfriend and you’re brain storming… I’ll pack a romantic picnic and take her to this beautiful park, no too overdone,’ one woman said.

‘Hmm maybe we can go on a vacation and I’ll take her to the beach and propose at sunset. Nah, again too cliche. Aha! I’ve got it. I’ll make her breakfast in bed, ooooh and make the sausages fingers. Yes, creative and romantic.’

Another suggested: ‘I assume he had the idea first to make her breakfast and propose. Simple, but cute. What made him think of replacing that with covering the ring in syrup and grease in a weird food hand was an improvement?’

However, many people said they saw the hilarious side to the proposal, praising the man for his efforts while some admitted they would still say ‘yes’.

‘While hilarious… This is really wholesome and sweet. I can’t be mad. we need more of that right now. I would however like to see how the wedding plays out,’ one said.

One woman admitted: ‘I’d probably still say “yes” though,’ while another added: ‘This dude at least gets points for creativity. I can honestly say I’ve never seen a sausage and pancake hand, wearing the ring.’
