Shanna Moakler reveals she is ‘indeed COVID positive’ and working with professionals to ‘fight this’

Shanna Moakler has tested positive for coronavirus.

‘I got my test results back yesterday and I am indeed COVID positive. They think I’m [on] day seven,’ revealed the 45-year-old former Miss USA winner on Thursday.

In a string of Instagram Story clips, Shanna explained that her ‘different symptoms’ included ‘a fever, chills, and coughing,’ as well as unimaginable exhaustion.

Moakler insisted that she has ‘a really great doctor’ on her side and that her nutritionist put her on a ‘protocol to help boost [her] immune system and help [her] fight this.’

Shanna – who was wed to Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker from 2004 to 2008 – also assured her nearly 180,000 followers that she has ‘a really great support team of friends and family keeping [her] spirits up’ and that she appreciates all of their ‘sweet messages.’

‘Otherwise, I am just in full rest mode.’

The model also recalled that ‘on this date in July last year, [she] broke [her] foot. And then this year, [she] got COVID.’

‘So I’m going to officially remove July from my calendar because [it’s] not my month. Not my month.’

Shortly after unveiling her shocking prognosis to her following, Shanna spoke with Entertainment Tonight about how she ‘cried’ when she learned she tested positive.

‘I’m not gonna lie, I cried,’ she admitted.

But, thankfully for Shanna, her ‘doctor was very comforting’ and provided her with some words of encouragement.

‘[He] said to me, “You know, if it wasn’t a COVID year and you felt like this, would you be scared?’ and I said, “No, I’ve been sick like this before.” And he goes, “Exactly.” He’s like, “You’re young, you’re healthy, you’re going to be OK.”’

Shanna said that she thinks ‘all the media and the press, the fear of just hearing you’re positive is scary.’

Although she is confident she will recover, Moakler urged people to take COVID-19 seriously and take all precautions because ‘it’s definitely very real.’

‘I would stay home as much as possible. I would wear a mask at any point in time you have to leave the house. Continue to wash your hands and be diligent about protecting yourself,’ she said.

Besides the virus, itself, Shanna admitted that ‘one of the biggest things for [her] that was very scary when [she] got it was that [she] was in contact with a lot of people.’

She added: ‘The thought that I infected anybody else was very upsetting.’

‘I was very concerned that I could’ve put someone else’s life in danger. So please take this very seriously. It is not fun and it affects everybody very differently.’

Moakler’s three children, daughter Atiana, 21, son Landon, 16, and daughter Alabama, 14, have been out of the house as she quarantines alone.

‘Clearly they all are getting tested as well, but you know, I think people forget that if you do get this, you’re not allowed to be around anybody.

‘You have to be alone, and being sick alone is never fun.’
