‘My fat COVID body!’ The Voice’s Guy Sebastian admits to gaining weight amid the pandemic as he suggests a ‘chin-up warmup’ during the playoffs

The Voice coach Guy Sebastian is known for his buff frame, famously unveiling an incredible body transformation for the cover of Men’s Health in 2017.

And on Sunday night’s episode of the reality show, the 38-year-old admitted to having gained weight amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Covering up in a red print sweater and black jeans during rehearsals for the playoffs, the Battle Scars singer suggested his team warm up with a chin-up challenge.

‘You’re a bodybuilder, what do we do?’ Guy directed at Josh Pywell. 

‘Can we do chin-ups? Can we have a chin-up bar or something?’ he continued. 

Adam Ludewig, who was competing against Josh, looked apprehensive, telling Guy: ‘Nah, I can’t even do one.’

Admitting to have gained weight, Guy responded: ‘Mate, my fat COVID body. I won’t be able to do one chin-up.’   

Despite not feeling his fittest, Guy looked like a professional as he managed a series of chin-ups with ease. 

Guy has shed a considerable amount of weight since winning the first season of Australian Idol in 2003.

Showing off his six pack on the cover of Men’s Health in 2017, the artist revealed why he had struggled to lose weight in the past. 

‘I was in an unhealthy cycle,’ Guy confessed to the publication.

‘I was drinking too much. I wasn’t eating well. And everything I thought I was doing right wasn’t working,’ he admitted.

Guy followed a ketogenic diet to achieve his weight-loss goals, while opting to cut alcohol and dairy out of his diet completely. 

The Voice Australia continues Monday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine.
