Sticky moment: Pensioner mistakes slushy machine for hand sanitiser at petrol station

A well-intended pensioner mistook a slushy machine for hand sanitiser when he walked in to pay at a petrol station. 

Security camera footage, filmed on September 15 at an unidentified petrol station, shows the mask-wearing elderly man walking in at 3.47pm.

The man walks up to a slushy machine at the entrance and begins to pump the sticky red liquid onto his hands believing he is sanitising them.

The mask-wearing man enters the station at 3.47pm on September 15 and scans the store for a hand sanitiser before making a beeline for the slushy machine

The clip shows the pensioner diligently trying to socially distance from other customers as he walks into the petrol station.  

He then makes a beeline towards the machine containing two clear containers of blue and red liquid and pours the sticky substance onto his hands. 

After rubbing the ice cold slush onto his hands he walks further into the shop, apparently unaware of his error.

The comical clip has received more than 19,000 views online, with viewers in the US and UK sharing  their amusement.
