Country singer Casey Barnes takes centre stage at the State of Origin in Brisbane after calling his performance at the game ‘a dream come true’

Country singer Casey Barnes lived out one of his dreams on Wednesday, performing at the State of Origin in Brisbane.

The 42-year-old We’re Good Together singer took to the stage before game three between the Queensland Maroons and the New South Wales Blues.

‘So this is a bit of a dream come true. Tonight I get to perform two songs pre-game with the band for the State of Origin and I’ll also be singing the national anthem,’ he wrote on Instagram ahead of the match.

He added: ‘It’s a sell out so should be an absolute ripper!’ 

Casey opted for a casual ensemble, appearing onstage dressed in ripped jeans, a T-shirt and baseball cap.

He also shared a series of videos of himself and his team during sound check on Instagram Stories on Wednesday.

‘We’re ready to do soundcheck. We’ve got to mask up just to walk onto the field, but we promise this won’t be happening tonight. Promise,’ he said in one of the videos.
