Jet2 has revealed a first-half loss and cautioned over summer 2021

Jet2 has revealed a first-half loss and cautioned over summer 2021 despite vaccine hopes. The holiday and airline group has slumped in the first half and said it remains cautious over next summer despite good news on possible coronavirus jabs.

The business reported operating losses of £111.2 million for the six months to September 30, against earnings of £361.5 million a year earlier. It fell to a £68.7 million pre-tax loss from profits of £278.6m a year ago.

The airline flew just 990,000 passengers in the half-year, down from 10.07 million a year earlier. Philip Meeson, executive chairman, said they were continuing their ‘cautious approach to summer 2021’.
