GMB’s Piers Morgan mocks Susanna Reid’s ‘phallic’ mask as he apologises for breaking COVID-19 rules

‘I don’t think you should wear that!’ GMB’s Piers Morgan leaves co-host Susanna Reid red-faced as he mocks her ‘phallic’ mask

Piers Morgan left co-host Susanna Reid red-faced during Monday’s Good Morning Britain, when he teased her for wearing a ‘phallic’ face mask.

The TV personality, 55, made the cheeky quip about 49-year-old Susanna’s choice of face covering as they opened the show and showed off their masks.

Piers pulled on a mask emblazoned with the words Take Up – the title of his book – while Susanna, who has been nicknamed ‘Shouty’, donned a pink mask featuring a finger raised to a red lips.

Turning to look at his co-host’s choice of mask, Piers quipped: ‘I don’t think you should be wearing that. That looks a little phallic to me.’

Protesting the innocence of the graphic, Susanna insisted: ‘It’s a finger!’

Later in the show, Piers switched from mocking to high praise for fellow presenter Charlotte Hawkins’ daughter Ella Rose after the proud mother shared an adorable video of her singing Jingle Bells.

Ella, five, has got into the festive spirit as she encouraged the audience to sing along with her in the heartwarming clip.

In the video, Ella said to the camera: ‘Now I’m going to sing a song so you’re all going to join in in three, two, one…’ before she launches into the song.

Her vocal skills clearly won over Good Morning Britain hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid who both gushed over the video.

Speaking to Charlotte via video link, Piers joked: ‘Do you know what? Finally we’ve got some talent from that family. She can properly sing. She even looks like Shirley Temple’.

Charlotte shares Ella with her husband Mark Herbert, with the couple marrying in 2008 after five years together.

Charlotte welcomed Ella in February 2015 after announcing her pregnancy on Good Morning Britain the previous August.

In 2018, Charlotte, who gave birth to Ella when she was 39, described the process of trying to conceive with husband Mark as a ‘stressful time’.

The TV veteran spoke candidly about trying for a baby later in life, and how she was ‘amazed’ she brought her daughter into the world.

Charlotte explained to the Mirror: ‘We tried for a few years, and I’d got to the stage where I was worried because it just wasn’t happening.

‘It was a stressful time but I still look at her now and am amazed at the fact that we created this little being, but it still sometimes scares me thinking how different our life would have been if we hadn’t had her.’

In 2014, Charlotte confessed that she and husband Mark almost went down the route of IVF treatment when she found out she was pregnant.

‘It took a long while for it to sink in I was pregnant because we’d been trying for quite some time,’ she said.
