Former Love Island Australia star Isabelle Green welcomed her daughter, Dakota Sage, on New Year’s Day.
And on Monday, the 28-year-old shared an emotional Instagram post explaining her child’s difficult birth, and also posted several candid photos of herself in labour.
The new mother began her caption: ‘So I’ve been way too flat out to properly share on social media but here’s a little recap of my birth story.’

‘Basically I had my first contractions at 5am on December 31 and they were just like period pains, but I knew bub wouldn’t be far off,’ she added.
‘They got more intense throughout the day and both my sisters and mum came over to support me while I laboured at home.
‘We just used hot towels for the pain. Once it hit 9pm, my doula came over as the contractions were now super intense.’
Isabella eventually went to the hospital after spending 24 hours in labour at home.
‘Got to hospital around 6am on January 1 and the pain got quite intense so I tried the gas but it didn’t actually do anything for me. When they checked me, I was only 5cm dilated,’ she explained.
Change of plans: Isabella had planned to have an at-home birth and even hired a doula, but later realised it was safer to head to the hospital
‘My waters (membranes) ended up being too thick to break naturally so were creating a lot of pressure, hence why I wasn’t progressing.
‘I ended up getting the epidural. They broke my waters and within an hour I was 10cm dilated.’
Following the epidural, Isabelle was given an episiotomy, a surgical incision to speed up the labour. Three hours later, Dakota was born around midday on New Year’s Day.

Worth the pain: ‘All in all it was an intense, amazing and insane experience and I definitely wouldn’t change a thing as my little angel came out so healthy and perfect. Now to learn to motherhood. Wish me luck!’ she concluded her post

The former model announced her pregnancy in July, but did not reveal the identity of the child’s father at the time.
However, Queensland-based Dean Tahana revealed on Instagram after Dakota’s birth that he was the father.

While Dakota is Isabelle’s first child, Dean is believed to have a teenage daughter from a previous relationship.

Isabelle appeared on season two of Love Island Australia, before launching a career as a social media influencer.
She memorably got a ’12 out of 10′ from co-star Eoghan Murphy following a kissing competition in the Spanish villa.
Isabelle was notably part of the ‘bomb squad’, which consisted of five bikini-clad stunners who arrived late in the season as intruders.
