A Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? contestant swore in frustration on last night’s episode after losing £15,000.
Justin Beattie, from Bristol, was so stunned to learn he would be leaving the ITV competition with just £1,000 that he dropped an expletive in a show first, shocking host Jeremy Clarkson.
The player, who spent 25 years as a submarine safety engineer and was aiming to open a pub with his potential winnings, was sent home when the presenter asked: ‘Which sportsman retired aged just 26, before making an unsuccessful return to competition eight years later?’
Justin had a choice of four answers, including Bjorn Borg, Alain Prost, George Foreman and Carl Lewis.
But Justin answered the £32,000 question wrong while he still had all four lifelines remaining, guessing Carl Lewis instead of correctly saying Bjorn Borg.

Justin had reached £16,000 with little difficulty and appeared confident as he aimed to bank double that amount.
After being told the £32,000 question by presenter Jeremy, Justin felt the answer was ‘definitely’ athlete Carl Lewis.
However, to the shock of Justin, the correct answer proved to be Swedish Tennis player Björn Borg.
Delivering the bad news, Jeremy said: ‘You’ve just lost £15,000. I’m heartbroken. Well, not as much as you are.’

There was a long silence as the stunned contestant placed his hands against his mouth before uttering a string of expletives bleeped by ITV.
A laughing Jeremy told Justin: ‘That’s a first. Nobody’s ever said that.’ During the broadcast, the presenter tweeted: ‘Felt bad that poor submarine man went out.’
Justin walked away with just £1,000 after failing to reach the next ‘guaranteed point’ which was £32,000.
He had hoped to open a micropub with his potential winnings, explaining: ‘They tend to serve local real ale from within a 20 or 30 mile radius.
‘They’re really stripped down and basic, with casks and kegs of real ale and local cider. And I really fancy that.’
