Japan’s most popular alcoholic premix Strong Zero has touched down on liquor store shelves in Australia.

Those who have travelled to Japan are no doubt familiar with the range of drinks by liquor giant Suntory, which are sold in convenience stores across the country.

Now, the company has gifted holiday-starved Aussies with their most sought-after flavour – lemon – which they have rebranded to 196 Double Lemon Down Under.

While it is now available in some independent retailers, Strong Zero will hit Liquorland and First Choice shelves in July before landing in Dan Murphy’s and BWS stores in August.

Beam Suntory Director of Innovation, Kay Oh, said the beverage was sure to be a hit with home-bound Australians who are missing a taste of Japan.

‘Aussies who’ve travelled to Japan show a genuine love for one of the country’s biggest and fastest growing brands -196 ֯C Strong Zero, and we’re excited to launch our very own -196 Double Lemon in Australia,’ Mr Oh said in a statement, Lad Bible reports.

‘We want Aussies to feel like they’re enjoying the real deal straight from the fridge of a convenience store in Tokyo. Unmistakably Japanese, we can’t wait for this next-level refreshment to hit Aussie shelves.’

The citrus drink is created by freezing a whole lemon in liquid nitrogen at -196C, before the fruit is ‘pulverised and soaked in shochu and vodka’.

Although they comes in 350ml cans, the carbonated drinks pack a punch – containing six per cent ABV.

Those wishing to get their hands on the tangy beverage will be able to pick up a four pack for $22, or a ten pack for $47.

In Asia, Strong Zero comes in a range of other flavours including grape and grapefruit.
