With the spring picnic season upon us, Australian shoppers have voted for their favourite supermarket dip brands.

Consumer review website Canstar Blue asked more than 1,400 consumers to rate the food dips based on taste, texture and consistency, range variety, value for money, packaging appeal and overall satisfaction. 

Of the brands tested, Yumi’s was crowned the best after earning five-star ratings for taste, texture and consistency, range variety and overall satisfaction.

Runner-up Deli Originals, which is one of Aldi's exclusive brands, was the only brand to receive five stars for value for money

The homegrown brand, which started in Melbourne before expanding across Australia, landed on four stars for value of money and packaging design.

Offering a wide variety of flavours ranging from classics to Mediterranean, the products are priced between $3.50 to $4 for 200g or $8 for a 1L tub of hommus.

Runner-up Deli Originals, which is one of Aldi’s exclusive brands, was the only brand to receive five stars for value for money.

The German supermarket scored four stars for taste, texture and consistency, range variety, packaging design and overall satisfaction.

Offering classic and gourmet flavoured dips, prices range between $1.79 for 200g to $4.99 for a 1kg tub.

Ritz ($2.75) scored three stars across all categories while Coles rounded out the top seven with four stars for value for money

In third place, Chris’ Dips ($3.50 to $8) and Black Swan ($3.50 to $4.30) tied with five stars for having the best range variety.

Both brands received four stars for the rest of the categories, including taste, texture and consistency, value for money and overall satisfaction.

Obela ($3.50 to $7) also scored top marks for taste, texture and consistency, range variety and packaging design. It received four-star ratings for value for money and overall satisfaction. 

Ritz scored three stars across all categories while Coles ($2 to $5) rounded out the top seven with four stars for value for money.
