PSG midfielder Marco Verratti is out for the next FOUR weeks after sustaining hip injury in Le Classique… but Sergio Ramos could return to training next week as he looks to finally make his debut in France

  • Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti could be out for four weeks
  • He sustained a hip injury during their clash with Marseille on Sunday afternoon
  • As a result, Verratti will most likely miss Italy’s World Cup qualifiers next month
  • PSG also said that Sergio Ramos could be back training with the team next week
  • Ramos has not played for the French side since joining them from Real Madrid
  • Meanwhile, star player Kylian Mbappe has picked up an ENT (ear) infection

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is expected to be out for four weeks after sustaining a hip injury during their clash with Marseille on Sunday.

Verratti sustained the injury during PSG’s 0-0 draw with Marseille in this weekend’s Le Classique. As a result, he will most likely miss Italy’s World Cup qualifiers against Switzerland and Northern Ireland next month.

PSG did, however, reveal that Sergio Ramos could be back training with the squad next week after being sidelined with a calf problem three months ago.

A PSG released a statement saying: ‘Following a shock received during the last match, Marco Verratti suffered a deep lesion of the oblique muscles in his left hip. An unavailability of 4 weeks is expected depending on the evolution.

‘Kylian Mbappe is the victim of an ENT infection (ear). An update will be made in 48 hours.

‘The evolution of Sergio Ramos’ recovery program, coordinated by the medical staff, is progressing very well. Continuous resumption with the group may be considered in the course of next week.’

The loss of Verratti will come as a big blow to PSG as he controls the middle of the park for the French side.

Verratti has shown he is capable of penetrating lines with his pass. He also proven he is capable of threating oppositions when carrying the ball forwards.

Given his absence, PSG may look to Idrissa Gana Gueye to pick up the slack. The 32-year-old came on for Verratti during Sunday’s Le Classique.

However, he will have big shoes to fill as PSG look to take on Lille in Ligue 1 on Friday night, before facing RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Nevertheless, PSG could be gifted with the return on Ramos – who has been sidelined with a calf injury for the last three months.

Ramos is yet to make his first appearance for Paris Saint-Germain after joining from Real Madrid this summer.
