Derek McInnes has emerged as a candidate for the vacant manager’s job at Cardiff City.
The ambitious 50-year old coach earned plaudits for his work at Aberdeen where he won the Scottish League Cup but has been eager for another crack at management in England.
He had a previous spell at Bristol City where he guided them from relegation and has been considered by the likes of West Bromwich Albion and Barnsley.

McInnes, who left Aberdeen by mutual consent in March, spoke glowingly this week about how he had received encouragement from his mentor Walter Smith prior to the former Rangers and Everton manager’s passing and is eager to take on a new challenge.
Cardiff are sifting through a number of names after sacking Mick McCarthy at the weekend.
Jody Morris, Frank Lampard’s assistant at Chelsea and Derby, is favourite with bookmakers as the Championship side evaluate contenders.
McCarthy was sacked by Cardiff after losing eight straight games in the Championship
Current Chelsea assistant Anthony Barry, ex-Newport boss Michael Flynn and Michael Duff at Cheltenham are also understood to be under consideration.
Chris Wilder had been mentioned also, though he is believed to be considering other options.
Steve Morison will continue as interim boss for this weekend’s game against Stoke but has a growing injury list to contend with.
