Antonio Conte has been cleared to take charge of Tottenham for the first time tonight after receiving international clearance.

The Italian was appointed Spurs’ new boss on Tuesday but has not been able to officially start work as he and his staff awaited their work permits from the Home Office.

But Conte has now received the relevant documentation for him to take start work and will be in the dug-out for tonight’s European Conference League clash against Vitesse Arnhem.

The former Chelsea boss is sure to receive a rapturous ovation from Spurs supporters for tonight’s clash.

Conte’s arrival in north London has had fans in raptures given his standing as one of European football’s elite coaches.

In an interview with the club’s in-house media team, he said: ‘To be Tottenham manager is a great pleasure, a great honour.

‘Now I want to repay this trust. My coaching philosophy is very simple: to play good football and attractive football for our fans with passion.

‘To have a stable team, not up and down.’
