But the 19 year-old is poised to switch allegiance following talks with the US head coach, former Crystal Palace defender Gregg Berhalter.

Ex-Arsenal youngster Yunus Musah made a similar decision to opt for the US over England earlier this year having worn the Three Lions as at youth level and has now made nine senior international appearances.

Mighten, whose brother David is playing college football in the States, was born in Hartford, Connecticut before his family returned to Nottingham when he was three.

Mighten joined Forest in 2009 and has emerged as one of their brightest academy products, going on to make almost 50 appearances for the first team since making his debut against Arsenal in September 2019.
