Salvation Army, Bondi Junction: High-end Salvos op-shop store opens with luxury brands

Inside the new Salvos store that’s more like a high-end Gucci fashion boutique than a dowdy op-shop – and it has a VERY posh new name

The Salvation Army is launching a new ‘luxury’ store which sells high-end brands such as Gucci with op-shop discounts. 

The new ‘O by Salvos’ store is set to open in Sydney’s Bondi Junction next Thursday and will offer massive discounts on luxury labels.

Customers entering the shop will be greeted by a fancy new logo and a selection of usually high-priced goods for discount prices.

The store will sell a variety of high-end brands at discounted prices – like a pair of Golden Goose men’s sneakers retail valued at $800 selling at the new store for $200

Some highlights of what’s on sale include a pair of Golden Goose men’s sneakers – which usually retail up to $800 – for just $200.

Also on sale is a Zimmerman trench coat valued over $1000 that is marked down to $150. 

The store also offers an extensive range of designer handbags from YSL and Louis Vuitton as well as designer trousers and smart jackets for the men.

Popular Australian brands are also available at the store with Sass and Bide and Camilla and Marc selling for just $40. 

Meanwhile the ‘regular’ sections of the store are dominated by the likes of Ralph Lauren and Seafolly over the usual Kmart-style op-shop finds.  

Aife O’loughlin, Salvos customer experience manager, said: ‘Op shopping can be pretty daunting if you’re new to it.’

‘The new “O by Salvos” section will be easy to navigate and offer a selection of curated pieces for the same prices as other items in the store.’

A focus of the new store is ‘change for tomorrow’ and Aife said everyone engaging with the new store will be helping their community. 

‘Everyone involved in the store – from customers to volunteers – is bettering the community,’ she said.

‘Donations avoid landfill and customers fund our community programs.’ 

The new store is looking for both quality donations and volunteers.

It will be open Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm.

The Salvation Army is an international Christian charity that focuses on ‘faith and giving hope where it’s needed most.’

The money raised through the selling of donations in their Salvos stores goes towards funding service programs.
