Calle Rey: Restaurant launches cheeseburger TACOS

Restaurant launches cheeseburger TACOS complete with patties, pickles and oozing cheese – so would you try one?

A plant-based Mexican restaurant has launched a new summer menu with a plant-based Cheeseburger Taco complete with patties, pickles and cheese. 

The Newtown restaurant, Calle Rey, has added the $14 Cheeseburger Taco to their menu for diners to enjoy on warm summer nights with a cocktail or two.

The taco itself features a warm tortilla wrap smothered with an even layer of classic mayo with crisp iceberg lettuce and juicy tomato on top.

The tomato is then topped with fresh gherkins, a homemade vegan patty, sweet potato cheddar and a drizzle of tomato sauce. 

‘This looks amazing,’ a person commented on Instagram. 

‘Wow, I have gotta try this,’ another said.

Calle Rey was Australia’s first vegan restaurant with a menu featuring Mexican and Peruvian combined cuisine. 

The restaurant was founded by ‘Share Plant Based’, a group of Sydney-siders ‘with a love and passion for plant-based food and wellbeing’.  

Calle Rey is open for dinner Tuesday to Saturday but if you don’t wish to dine in you can still try the all new summer menu by ordering takeaway.
