So it was little wonder David Beckham looked as pleased as punch as he took his brand new Maserati MC20 (which he designed himself) for a spin in a sleek advert for the Italian car brand.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the former footballer, 46, unveiled the new advert which was filmed in Miami, Florida, with the star seen zipping through the streets in his custom built motor.

Though a professional driver did most of the high-speed stunts, David still looked effortlessly cool as he got behind the wheel to film vast sections of the commercial.
The clip started with David making his way to the top a high-rise car park at night, with a voiceover stating: ‘Hello Mr Beckham, your new car is ready.
‘As requested, it’s been delivered on the seventh floor. Have a great evening.’
The sportsman was then seen starting up the engine with the advert then cutting between close-up shots of David in the driver’s seat and zoomed out shots of the unseen professional driver speeding through the empty streets of the city.

The advert ends with David driving to the top of the car park getting out of the vehicle before then leaning over the balcony and watching the sunrise over the coastal metropolis of Miami.
Captioning his post, he wrote: ‘Heading out for a spin… Thanks @maserati for helping combine two of my favourite things, beautiful cars and Miami for this incredible custom MC20.’
He added: ‘(Professional driver on a closed course. Do not attempt.).’

Meanwhile, ahead of sharing the new advert, David expressed his excitement of adding the slick new sportscar to his collection, explaining to fans that he designed it himself.
Filming himself in Miami ahead of receiving the vehicle, the Maserati ambassador said: ‘About a year ago I actually designed my MC20 with Maserati in Italy. And funnily enough we’re in Miami and it has just arrived!’
David looked as sharp as ever, in trendy sunglasses and a black leather jacket worn over a white T-shirt.
Elsewhere over on his Instagram stories, the Inter Miami FC co-owner shared a clip of his reaction to his new ride, with the star saying to the camera: ‘Unbelievable.

He then shared an image of the black vehicle, alongside the caption: ‘ready to go for a spin.’
The star further showed off the car with its personalised number plate before excitedly taking off in the car while a camera crew filmed around him.

David has said of designing the car: ‘I have always been a car enthusiast. It has been incredible to collaborate with the Maserati team and designers to create this one-off car that is inspired by my second home, Miami, and my football club. It is a joy to be behind the wheel.’
In April it was announced that David has signed up to be Maserati’s new global brand ambassador.
Speaking about his role at the time, David said: ‘It’s an exciting time for me to begin this partnership with Maserati; an iconic Italian brand which shares my appreciation for the very best innovation and design.

As well as his love of football and fashion, David is very much a petrolhead and has amassed quite the collection of luxury cars.
Among his convoy of supercars he has boasted over the years are a £140,000 exclusive Jaguar sports car, £80,000 Audi, Cadillac Escalade, a Jeep Wrangler and a £200,000 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti as well as a collection of motorcycles.
