Mauricio Pochettino has refused to open up on PSG’s move for Tottenham’s Tanguy Ndombele

Mauricio Pochettino has remained coy over Paris Saint-Germain’s efforts to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham in the January transfer window – the man he signed for the London club for £65million in 2019.

The 25-year-old midfielder appears unwanted by Spurs by Antonio Conte, who is desperately hoping to refresh his squad this month in order to boost their pursuit of the top four.

And the French giants are looking for a midfield reinforcement as they look to balance their pursuit of Champions League glory alongside wrapping up the French league.

PSG ran out 4-0 winners against Reims on Sunday night, putting them 11 points clear of second-place Nice – but, despite such an emphatic win, Pochettino was in no mood to lift the lid on the Ndombele talks.

‘I’m not talking about Ndombele because he’s not in our club,’ Pochettino said after the match. ‘PSG are open to progress, to improve.

‘I think everything is open – one week left (in the transfer window).’

Ndombele is a close friend of PSG striker Kylian Mbappe and is keen to make the switch. He also has interest from Napoli, Roma and Atletico Madrid.

The Frenchman moved to north London in a club-record £65m deal from Lyon in the summer of 2019. However, he has failed to cement a regular spot in the starting XI.

Ndombele has failed to impress four different Tottenham managers during his time at the club, and he is said to be training on his own after being excluded from the last two match-day squads.

Sportsmail reported over the weekend that former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum could head to Tottenham as part of the deal.

The Holland international left Anfield for France at the end of last season upon the expiry of his contract but has struggled to settle under Pochettino.
