Married At First Sight’s Jessika Power DEFENDS new bride Tamara Djordjevic amid viewer backlash

Married At First Sight’s Jessika Power DEFENDS new bride Tamara Djordjevic amid claims she’s the victim of a ‘bad edit’: ‘Let’s give her a second’

Married At First Sight bride Tamara Djordjevic made headlines for all the wrong reasons during Monday night’s season premiere.

And on Tuesday, former bride Jessika Power raced to the 29-year-old operation manager’s defence and urged fans to ‘give her a second’ before labelling her a villain.

Jessika, who experienced a similar backlash due to her infidelity on the show, reminded followers to not believe everything they see on television.

Commenting underneath an Instagram post questioning whether the blonde bride is a victim of ‘the edit’, Jessika wrote: ‘To be fair, no one knows her ”back life”.

‘I’m also sure she’s caught a lot of backlash from the first couple of episodes but, like any ‘villain’ on this show – let’s give her a second (I am confident I’ll regret that but feel obliged to defend where I can).’

Tamara raised eyebrows during Monday’s episode after she claimed she wouldn’t date someone who works in retail because it was ‘below her’, and that she deserved a man who was ambitious and successful.

Tamara clarified her comments during a live appearance on the Tuesday’s Today show.

‘I have absolutely no qualms about retail. I don’t look down on people who work in retail … that is not what I was saying. I couldn’t articulate myself properly,’ she said.

‘I was so hungry, I honestly hadn’t eaten all day. What I was trying to say was for a husband I’m looking for someone ambitious.’

Back in 2019, Jessika famously cheated on her ‘husband’, Mick Gould, with another groom, Dan Webb, who was paired with Tamara Joy.

She lied about the affair for weeks, before finally coming clean in an explosive commitment ceremony that left fan favourite Mick in tears.

Married At First Sight continues Wednesday at 7.30pm on Nine
