Glenn Hoddle has snubbed Mohamed Salah in the running to be Jurgen Klopp’s best signing at Liverpool, with the pundit selecting the in-form Diogo Jota instead.
Jota stole the headlines once again last night with the Reds beating Leicester 2-0, after the forward scored both goals and delivered another eye-catching showing.
He arrived for £41million from Wolves in 2020, and his tally in the Premier League this season already stands at an impressive 12.

As a result of his heroics since joining the Merseyside heavyweights, Hoddle singled out Jota as boss Klopp’s ‘best guy’ since he took charge.
‘It’s really great instinctive finishing,’ he told BT Sport.
‘He goes into the box, comes in behind him and he knows. Doesn’t need to take a look – his instincts tell him where the goal is.

‘That is why he’s a starter for me. Probably [Klopp’s] best buy, I would say. He surprised everyone when he first came with how good he’s been.’
His comments come as a surprise, however, with superstar Salah – the club’s talisman – left out of the equation by the former England manager.
Salah has scored 148 goals in 229 total appearances for the club, having arrived from Roma in 2017.
He hit the ground running, and has gone to to become an integral part under Klopp for their Champions League and Premier League triumphs.

Having returned from the African Cup of Nations shortly before Liverpool’s last fixture, the Egypt international was named among the substitutes.
Jota filled the void superbly, though. His first of the night came via a poacher’s finish inside the six-yard box, while the second was similar in style following a short burst.
Liverpool have won six of the seven matches that Salah and Sadio Mane haven’t started in as a result of their participation in the AFCON.
