Tottenham are prepared to wait it out before offering star striker Harry Kane a new contract.

Kane produced one of the standout performances of the season as he scored twice in Sunday’s 3-2 victory over Manchester City.

The 28-year-old had pushed to join Pep Guardiola’s side last summer, only for Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to block a move in his determination to keep their prized asset.

During the saga last summer, Kane turned down a lucrative contract extension and his current agreement has two years remaining at the end of the current campaign.

The Athletic have now reported that Tottenham are not planning to approach Kane over a new contract for now.

It’s said they ‘accept’ the ball is in Kane’s court and it would be the striker who would have to make the first move at this moment.

Kane was disappointed not to get his move last summer as he hoped to move on in his pursuit of winning trophies.

It took a while for Kane to get going this season but he is happier now under Italian manager Antonio Conte.

The striker though wants to assess the club’s progress under Conte before he decides whether to commit his future to Spurs.

It’s said that if he tries to leave and Levy’s position stays the same, Kane would look to see out his contract and leave as a free agent at the age of 31.

Conte’s men are strong contenders to finish in the top four and earn a Champions League spot this season.

They are also still in the running for the FA Cup, with a trip to Middlesbrough in the fifth round.

Kane had scored just one goal in 14 to start the season but has returned to form scoring six in his last nine league appearances.
