The Project’s Hamish Macdonald calls out ‘d**khead’ driver for circling roundabout in floods

A furious Hamish Macdonald branded a driver a ‘d**khead’ during a live cross on The Project on Wednesday.

The 40-year-old TV journalist was reporting from Liverpool in Sydney’s south-west, which has been ravaged by floods.

During his live cross, a driver in a white ute began circling a roundabout in the background, prompting Hamish to issue a stern warning.

Not happy: A furious Hamish Macdonald branded a driver a ‘d**khead’ during a live cross on The Project on Wednesday

‘I think one of the local residents is going to give us a demonstration of the one thing that the authorities say repeatedly, which is don’t drive through floodwaters…’ he began.

After repeatedly driving around in circles, the ute then drove towards Hamish, before pausing right behind him.

He then sped off down the street, momentarily distracting Hamish’s colleagues back in the studio.

‘Sorry, we were just watching the car behind you, Ham, which I think now has come out of shot,’ explained Project host Carrie Bickmore.

The 41-year-old added: ‘It was going around and around, doing exactly what you warned us it would do.’

Clearly unimpressed by the driver, Hamish appeared momentarily lost for words by his reckless behaviour.

‘Yeah, I have to say, having been up in the northern rivers and the north coast of New South Wales for the past few days, you know, the last thing the authorities need right now is a d**khead turning his car over in low-lying flood waters,’ he fumed.

‘They’ve got a lot of people that actually do need their help. So if you are in a flood affected area, obviously all the usual advice is in place.

‘Don’t play in floodwater, don’t let your kids play in floodwater. If you see floodwaters, don’t drive through it.’

Infuriating: Viewers were equally unimpressed by the driver, with many voicing their support for Hamish on Twitter

The ute then returned, and continued to circle the roundabout as Hamish finished his live cross.

Viewers were equally unimpressed by the driver, with many voicing their support for Hamish on Twitter.

‘Yes, guy in white ute. Hamish has called you a d**khead. Rightly so,’ commented one viewer, while another wrote, ‘Absolute d**khead guy in car.’

‘Can someone give that d**khead behind Hamish in the ute doing illegal movements on the roundabout a ticket? A freeze frame should show his number plate,’ added another.

But some people were amused by the driver’s behaviour, despite showing a complete disregard for safety.

‘Gotta love the ute driver doing circles behind Hamish,’ wrote one viewer.
