The Normal People star, 23 – who shot to fame playing Marianne Sheridan in the drama – admitted to Jimmy ‘even doing the little walk out here is quite scary!’ as she joined him in the studio.

Uneasy: Daisy Edgar-Jones admitted during an appearance on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday that she still feels nervous doing in-person shows after having previously only done interviews virtually

Daisy looked stunning for her appearance on the NBC talk show, donning a black crop top, matching trousers and a thin belt with a red bow while promoting her new film Fresh.

And as she settled down for the chat, the actress told how it was her first press tour in person after previously appearing remotely on the show due to the coronavirus pandemic.

‘Even doing the little walk out here is quite scary,’ said Daisy. ‘You’re like I don’t know how to walk places.’

‘You forgot how to really walk?,’ Jimmy asked.

‘When you think about it too much, it’s quite like a strange thing,’ said Daisy. ‘You sort of overthink everything, but yeah it’s lovely to be in person’

Jimmy said he knew she was busy on projects and that she hadn’t been to her hometown of London for some time.

‘Last year, I wasn’t there,’ Daisy said. ‘Well, I was there for about 10 days-ish.’

Jimmy said because of that he wanted to make her feel at home and brought out of Daisy’s favorite crisps from London such as Hula Hoops. He asked her what they were.

‘Hula Hoops are a circular crisp,’ Daisy said. ‘When you are in primary school you put them all on your fingers like rings and then you eat them off.’

Jimmy tried. They didn’t fit on his finger but he ate them.

‘These are phenomenal,’ said Jimmy as he ate them.

He said he wanted her to try something that she had never had and talked to her publicist and found that she had never had Girl Scout Cookies. He then brought out four boxes for her to try.

Daisy ate a Caramel Delite cookie and said ‘it didn’t look as appetizing as it is.’

Jimmy then gave her a Thin Mint to try but then she seemed to like the caramel cookie better.

Jimmy then asked her about her new movie Fresh, which she stars in with Sebastian Stan. He asked her if it was better to not know anything about it beforehand.’

‘I think so,’ said Daisy. ‘I think the joy of the film is coming to it not knowing where it goes because it really does go on quite a journey. But yeah, I would describe it as sort of a social thriller about the perils of modern dating.’

Jimmy said ‘it’s dark.’ He said you do not see where this goes at all.

‘You are amazing in it,’ Jimmy said.

He then played a clip from the movie that premieres on Friday on Hulu.

Daisy’s initial nerves on the show comes after she admitted that the life-changing milestone in her career starring in Normal People was one that was met with conflicting emotions as she navigated her new-found fame during the first lockdown in April 2020.

The stunner disclosed how the ‘out of body’ situation left her feeling a ‘wee bit lonely’ to in an interview with Wonderland in December.

Admitting she is still trying to ‘unpick’ the unprecedented time when Normal People soared to its acclaim, she said: ‘It was quite out of body. When you’re experiencing that level of a show’s popularity, but you’re only able to leave your house for a 20-minute walk every day, it’s a very hard thing to connect to.’

Daisy added that it was a far cry from the ‘shared experience’ between her, Paul Mescal (her love interest Connell Waldron in the BBC3 series) and the filmmakers when shooting scenes.

‘It was a very lonely experience in many ways because we weren’t able to share the joys of certain things, but it was obviously amazing,’ she recalled.

‘I feel like in some ways the pandemic helped our show to reach even further than it may have, but it was also surreal and at times a wee bit lonely.’
