Nicola Peltz’s Valentino wedding dress had message from mom, put custom label into husband’s suit

Nicola Peltz’s Valentino wedding dress had a sweet message from her mother sewn into it – while the bride left her own special note in her new husband, Brooklyn Beckham’s Dior suit.

The newlyweds tied the knot during a lavish $3.5 million wedding, which took place at her billionaire father Nelson Peltz’s $103 million compound in Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday, April 9.

During the glamorous ceremony, Peltz, 27, wore a stunning Valentino Haute Couture dress which came complete with a personalized note from her mom, Claudia Heffner Peltz.

The message was sewn into an evil eye symbol on the skirt of her dress using blue thread to act as her ‘something blue’ – a long-lasting tradition where brides wear one piece of blue along with their all-white wedding attire to symbolize love, purity, and faithfulness.

And it turns out, the sewn-in tribute to her mom was a total surprise to the new-bride, who didn’t know about it before hand.

As a gift to her husband, Peltz had her own hidden message to Beckham threaded into his ensemble – which was written on a small label, since she said the 23-year-old ‘loves labels.’

‘Brooklyn loves labels,’ Nicola explained to Vogue during an interview which took place a few days before the wedding. ‘Two years ago for Christmas, I made a whole suitcase full of personalized ones for him.’

Last month, the eldest son of David Beckham and Victoria Beckham opened up about his passion for labels while giving British Vogue a glimpse inside his BB custom Maison Goyard bag.

The budding chef told the outlet at the time that Peltz often gives him personalized labels with heartfelt messages on them because he has a ‘label obsession’ and likes the ‘feeling’ of them, many of which he keeps inside his bag.

One adorable message read: ‘Rub for worries but don’t worry because I’m always right here with you.

‘I love you with all my heart baby and I promise we can get through anything together.’

Speaking about his label obsession, he said: ‘These are labels which my misses bought me and she personalized them.

‘When I say label obsession, I have a thing with the feeling of them, like even when I was playing football as a young kid and I had my football kit on, my dad always had to like cut them out because it was distracting me.’

At their wedding, Beckham added a diamond lapel chain from Anita Ko – a gift from his new in-laws – to his Dior tuxedo.

As for Peltz’s gorgeous white Valentino number, stylist Leslie Fremar (who has previously dressed big stars like Demi Moore, Julianne Moore, and Charlize Theron) called it the most beautiful dress he’s ever seen.

‘Coming from Leslie, that is incredible,’ Peltz gushed to Vogue.

A lot went into making the custom dress perfect – including a year of discussions between Peltz, Fremar, and Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, two trips to Rome, and multiple fittings.

‘It was the ultimate couture experience,’ Fremar recalled.

At first, it was meant to have embroidery all over it, but after Peltz tried it on for the first time, they decided to keep it more simple.

‘The simplicity of it was magnificent,’ Fremar gushed. ‘We didn’t have to overly detail the dress to accomplish the magnitude of it, so we ended up eliminating the embroidery.’

‘It was a no-brainer,’ said Peltz of picking Fremar to style her for the wedding.

He added: ‘Weddings come with many emotions. There’s stress, there’s excitement, there’s nerves… There’s lots of different energies going around. But the clothes are complete.’

The actress’ hair and makeup were inspired by supermodel Claudia Schiffer from the ’90s. Her glam squad Kate Lee and Adir Abergel helped complete the look.

‘I always thought I wanted my hair half up, half down, but we’re going for long bangs with loose, natural hair,’ Peltz told the outlet.

Abergel, who first met Peltz on the Transformers tour in 2014, said the Bates Motel alum was like her ‘little sister.’

‘She’s like my little sister – she annoys me all the time, but she’s also the best,’ he joked to Vogue in a separate interview.

‘She’s been sending me all of these rad images of early Claudia Schiffer – including pictures of her with bangs – so they inspired us, plus the dress, which is just beautiful.’

Besides Schiffer, Abergel also credited actress, singer, and model Brigitte Bardot as his inspiration for the look.

‘It was all about keeping her hair beautiful, soft and smooth,’ he continued. ‘Think luxe, polished texture, but with fullness and movement to it.’

The hairstylist admitted that he was worried about how the Florida humidity and wind might effect the final look, especially since Peltz’s hair is naturally curly.

‘Nicola actually has quite wavy hair – it has a lot of texture in it – so to make sure it’s protected from the humidity I’ve had her using the Virtue Restorative Mask all week,’ he explained.

‘One thing I’d say to all brides is that one of the most important parts of good hair is to ensure it is super-hydrated before the big day arrives.’

On the big day, he used Virtue’s Healing Oil and Un-Frizz Cream to keep it tame, before doing a ‘really good blowout.’ He also dyed her locks lighter than normal.

‘The secret to perfect bridal hair is to use another source of heat after you’ve blow dried it,’ Abergel revealed.

‘I used a large barrel curling iron to give it that high finish. I ran it over the hair and created little bends in it so her hair felt a bit more undone.’

Abergel has much experience when it comes to weddings – having done hair for Jessica Biel at her wedding to Justin Timberlake and Anne Hathaway at her wedding to Adam Shulman.

‘I’m used to these big wedding moments for my girls – it was the same at Justin and Jessica’s wedding, and Anne Hathaway’s,’ he said.

‘You don’t want to veer too far from who you are as a person – it’s about elevating their hair and celebrating the essence of who they are.’

As for her makeup, Chanel makeup artist Lee wanted to keep Peltz’s look as natural as possible.

‘We decided on a very fresh, natural look – barely-there but with a few interesting details that will pop under the veil,’ she said.

‘The intention was to accentuate her natural features, while adding a few modern, not-so-traditional details.’

Onlookers claimed that he ‘shed a tear’ while speaking about ‘wanting to protect’ his first son following his birth in 1999.

A source told The Sun: ‘He said he was sleeping on the hospital floor, holding the door shut because he didn’t want to let anyone get in.

‘David got a lump in his throat and had to stop and take a breather to regain his composure, but it was a very sweet speech.’
