West Ham line up move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja

West Ham line up move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja after Albania international impressed on loan at Southampton with David Moyes determined not to be left short up front again

  • Armando Broja has enjoyed a positive season on loan at Southampton
  • Chelsea and Albania forward, 20, is now attracting interest from West Ham
  • Hammers have paid the price this season for a lack of options up front
  • They will miss out on the top four and exited Europa League at semi-final stage

West Ham have put Chelsea striker Armando Broja high on their list of targets as they seek to strengthen following a disappointing end to the season.

Manager David Moyes is fan of the powerful 20-year-old, who has impressed on loan this season at Southampton.

Though Broja was born and raised in Slough, he is an Albanian international through his parents and has played against England.

West Ham have paid the price for a relatively weak squad with no competition for Michail Antonio up front.

Their challenge for a top-four place has fizzled out and on Thursday night they were knocked out of the Europa League by Eintracht Frankfurt with a frustrated Moyes sent to the stands in Germany.

The Hammers have put a shortlist together on what they would like, with Broja considered more achievable than Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, who would cost about £50million.

Once the Chelsea takeover from baseball owner Todd Boehly is completed as expected, the club will be able to trade in the transfer window as usual with manager Thomas Tuchel having the decision whether he wants Broja to move on.
