Barcelona are ‘set to let NINE players leave this summer – including Man City target Frenkie de Jong and free signing Memphis Depay’ – as Xavi looks to overhaul his squad in order to compete for LaLiga title once again

  • Barcelona are set to allow nine players leave this summer to rebuild the squad
  • Manchester City target Frenkie de Jong is on the list of potential departures
  • Ousmane Dembele and Dani Alves are also out of contract at Barca this summer
  • Barca boss Xavi is already lining up summer signings including Franck Kessie

Barcelona are reportedly set to put nine players up for sale, including Frenkie de Jong this summer as boss Xavi looks to rebuild his squad after a disappointing season.

Boss Xavi has been very clear that they need to bring in reinforcements to challenge Real Madrid for the LaLiga title and compete in the Champions League once again.

The Catalan giants will however be forced to sell players in order to bring in new signings – therefore a whole list of stars will be up for grabs.

A report in Marca, suggests Neto, Clement Lenglet, Sergino Dest, Oscar Mingueza, Samuel Umtiti, Frenkie de Jong, Riqui Puig, Memphis Depay and Martin Braithwaite will be made available this summer.

Barca have already reportedly set a £58m asking price on Dutch midfielder de Jong with Manchester City and Manchester United both monitoring the situation.

De Jong has been a regular in the Barcelona team this season, making 42 appearances across all competitions – with four goals and five assists.

But it is now believed he could be shifted out in order for Xavi to continue his squad rebuild.

Memphis Depay could leave after one season

Forward Depay is said to be attracting interest from Tottenham and Napoli after just one year in Spain.

The 28-year-old arrived at the Nou Camp last summer from Lyon on a free transfer while the other seven are set to attract interest from some of Europe’s elite clubs and help clear out the wage bill for new arrivals.

That might not be the end of the clear-out either with Dani Alves and Ousmane Dembele out of contract in the summer and yet to sign new deals.

Luuk de Jong and Adama Traore are only currently on loan at Barca and will be expected to return to their parent clubs unless a deal can be arranged for the duo to join permanently.

Philippe Coutinho is on loan at Aston Villa

Miralem Pjanic is out on loan at Besiktas

Philippe Coutinho, Trincao and Miralem Pjanic are currently out on loan at Aston Villa, Wolves and Besiktas respectively and will return to Xavi’s squad this summer – although the trio could also move on.

Antoine Griezmann is another that is currently out on loan at rivals Atletico Madrid, but he has another yet left on his loan deal, which he is expected to fulfill.

Barcelona have already started work on new signings, having reportedly agreed deals with both AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie and Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.

They have also been heavily linked with Chelsea duo Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso this summer along with Leeds winger Raphinha and Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski among many others.
