League One side Burton Albion have released a cryptic post teasing a possible return to football for former England international Peter Crouch.

Crouch retired from football in July 2019 after a stellar career racking up 106 goals in 468 Premier League appearances.

He has since moved into media work, appearing as a pundit for TNT sports and hosting his own podcast with Capital breakfast presenter Chris Stark and former footballer Steve Sidwell.

Now, Burton have released a tease on social media site X (formerly Twitter), depicting Crouch holding up a shirt with his name and number on the back at the Pirelli Stadium.

The picture was accompanied by the caption: ‘A big return… 09.10.23 #BAFC #BackStronger’

Peter Crouch made 135 total appearances for Liverpool, registering 42 goals and 23 assists

Burton are currently sat 18th in League One and play Cambridge United on Monday 9 October, perhaps hinting at a special appearance by the big striker.

It is unknown in what capacity Crouch will be appearing, whether that be as a player, manager or just to support the club.

The 6ft 7in striker is most well known for his stints at Liverpool and Tottenham, reaching the Champions League final in 2007 but losing 2-1 to AC Milan.

The #BackStronger is a call to his podcast’s catchphrase and could hint a possible return to the pitch.

As well as his football podcast Crouch has also started one with wife Abbey Clancy, called the Therapy Crouch.

IT’S ALL KICKING OFF!

It’s All Kicking Off is an exciting new podcast from Mail Sport that promises a different take on Premier League football.
