She gave birth to a baby boy during the middle of a pandemic.

And Ciara discussed wearing a face mask to protect herself and others as COVID-19 cases surged throughout the United States when she delivered her son, Win, in July.

The 35-year-old singer admitted she was ‘not playing any games about COVID’ as she detailed the importance of masking up under any circumstances as the cover star of Self magazine’s January issue.

Most of Los Angeles County went under strict lockdown measures during the middle of March 2020 after county officials recorded the first COVID-related death on March 11. 

Los Angeles Unified School District campuses were ordered closed on March 16, in addition to gyms, bars and restaurants, in efforts to curb the spread of the deadly virus. 

‘My obstetrician, who’s delivered all my babies, was not playing any games about this COVID,’ she told the magazine. ‘I literally made my first push with Win and then he was like, “She needs a mask on. Get a mask on.”‘

‘It happened so fast, so I still had my mask [down], but he was like, “Oh, no, no. She gon’ put that mask on.”‘

Ciara delivered her baby boy on July 23 with her husband, Russell Wilson, by her side as many hospitals around the country changed visitor policies to limit outside influences throughout medical facilities.

She shared a video on Instagram showing the love just moments after the little one was born.

The 1, 2 Step songstress rocked a black face mask in her hospital bed with a room full of doctors and nurses sporting their own personal protective equipment. 

‘My mask was pretty good,’ she added. ‘I could still breathe alright through it, so that was good. But it was like, “Wow. This is crazy. I’m having to deliver a baby with a mask. What in the world?”‘ 

The Goodies hitmaker also has a three-year-old daughter, Sienna, with Russell and shares co-parenting responsibilities of her six-year-old son Future Zahir Wilburn with ex, rapper Future.
