A breathtaking sea of blooming tulips have come to life across a field in Germany signalling the much-awaited arrival of spring.
The explosion of colour, which took form across a field in the town of Grevenbroich, in North Rhine-Westphalia, was admired by avid nature lovers from all over the district who flocked to the picturesque field to absorb its natural beauty.
Aerial images taken by drone showed row upon row of the eye-catching flowers, which are typically red, pink, yellow or white, basking in the sunshine across the field’s vast 100 hectares of land.
On Sunday, scenes showed nature lovers walking through the colourful display of flowers to pose in front of the a rare sight.
The western German state, which is famed for its nature reserves, has also become known for offering one of the largest cultivation areas in the whole of Germany with six farmers in the district breeding and harvesting the exquisite array of tulips.
Tulips, which are usually planted in autumn before the ground freezes, were originally found in southern Europe and Central Asia before they were cultivated across the world through various breeding programmes and are now popular as ornamental garden plants or cut flowers.
