M&S shoppers brand Easter-themed Colin the Caterpillar cake ‘demonic’

M&S shoppers reveal they’re ‘freaked out’ by Easter-themed Colin the Caterpillar cake – and say it’s the ‘most disturbing thing they’ve ever seen’

  •  M&S have released Easter Bunny version of popular Colin the Caterpillar cake
  •  It features large buck teeth, giant ears, and is a far cry away from the original
  • Many branded it ‘demonic’  and joked it’s the ‘ugliest thing they’ve ever seen’

Marks and Spencer’s Colin the Caterpillar is one of the supermarket’s best-selling items, having surged in popularity since it was launched 30 years ago.

But in time for Easter, the upmarket shop has released a £10 bunny-version of their popular cake, which features large buck teeth and giant ears.

However, their latest creation has split the opinion of fans, with some branding it ‘the most disturbing thing they’ve ever seen’.

A photo of the seasonal creation was shared to the Facebook page Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, and it quickly racked up thousands of likes and more than 11,000 comments.

While a select few thought it was cute, others said the cake, which has been kitted out with white chocolate rabbit ears and mini orange fondant carrots, resembled the sinister bunny from the Wallace and Gromit film, Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

‘Most disturbing looking bunny I’ve ever seen!’ penned one, while a second agreed: ‘It looks possessed and since when has a rabbit had 6 legs… Definitely won’t be buying.’

A third added: ‘That’s not an Easter bunny!! That’s the general out of Watership Down!!!’ and ‘They should save it for Halloween, it looks demonic’.

A fourth commented: ‘Looks like the bunny from Donnie Darko. They should save it for Halloween, it look demonic.’

Elsewhere, someone wrote: ‘Really should have had a rethink of the rabbit’s face. That looks awful and scary to some kids! Who agreed to sell this?’

However, despite being in agreement about its scary appearance, many still admitted they’d still try it.

‘Looks like a thing of nightmares but I bet it tastes good,’ wrote one, while another commented: ‘Will definitely get one.xxxx as Bella would say chase is on the case. Xxxxxx’

A further wrote: ‘I hope it’s in stores now as I need it for my son’s bday cake next week lol.’
