Thrifty woman gives her kitchen a ‘beautiful’ modern makeover for £185 using £20 eBay tile stickers and statement pieces from B&M and Home Bargains

A DIY fan gave her outdated kitchen a ‘beautiful’ modern makeover for £185 using bargain buys from B&M, eBay and Home Bargains. 

Stacey Dolby, from Devon, took to Facebook group DIY On a Budget Official to share photos of her mother’s impressive work and reveal details of her best cut-price finds.

She explained that her thrifty mother used stickers to brighten up her bland tiles, found a statement clock for less than a fiver and revived the cupboards and cabinets with a fresh lick of paint.

In the before photos, the dull kitchen walls appear in desperate need of a lick of paint, and the oak furniture a modern update.

However, the big unveil after shows the room has been given a new lease of life – with textured white wall tiles, shelves and the addition of a stylish clock. 

And various items within the new kitchen had such an impact on DIY lovers across the nation, they were eager to find out where they were from.

Stacey went on to explain how the shelves cost £5 from B&M, clock was £3.99 from Home Bargains, while the stickers were a steal at £20 from eBay – for 50 covers – along with the six chair covers, which came to £20. 

She added the paint was v33 renovation soft grey satin, while the table and chairs were purchased from B&Q.

In the post, which has since garnered almost 6, 000 likes and over 700 comments, Stacey thanked members of the group for their ‘lovely comments,’ before confirming her parents are ‘very happy’ with their finished kitchen. 

And social media users loved everything about the chic renovation – but were particularly taken with the clock and tile stickers. 

‘I love this. The tile stickers look good,’ enthused one, while a second wrote: ‘Love it! Especially the huge clock;

A third branded the renovation ‘beautiful,’ while another tagged a friend and commented: ‘This looks lush.’
