‘I haven’t touched my face in weeks. In weeks. I miss it!’ Donald Trump claims he is taking coronavirus safety measures seriously at latest White House summit on crisis (so what was he doing to himself on Monday?)

  • President Trump said Wednesday that he hasn’t touched his face in weeks as a safety precaution amid the Coronavirus outbreak
  • ‘I haven’t touched my face in weeks. In weeks. I miss it,’ he said
  • But on Monday, during a meeting with the pharmaceutical executives, the president was seen with his hand on his chin

President Trump said Wednesday that he hasn’t touched his face in weeks as a safety precaution amid the Coronavirus outbreak even as photos reveal him doing just that in a meeting on the outbreak on Monday.

‘I haven’t touched my face in weeks. In weeks. I miss it,’ he said.

The president made his comments when he stopped by a meeting Vice President Mike Pence was holding with airline CEOs at the White House regarding the coronavirus.

But on Monday, during a meeting with the pharmaceutical executives about the outbreak, the president was seen with his hand on his chin.

Medical experts have advised people to wash their hands with soap for 20 seconds multiple times a day and not touch their face to help contain the spread of the disease.

Coronavirus is spread via people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) or through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

The president also offered reassurance on travel even as he warned more restrictions could be coming.

‘In large portions of the world it is safe to fly,’ Trump said during the meeting with eight airline CEOs.

But he said additional international restrictions may be in order. The administration has implemented mandatory tests for those flights coming directly from Italy and South Korea, which have been hit heavily by the Coronavirus.

‘As certain areas, get to be more of a problem we may close them up, as we have done with numerous areas. At this moment we think we have it very much in hand. We’ve closed certain areas down very strongly. In some cases, not all countries but certain areas within countries like in Italy. We are doing a very effective job in terms of that,’ Trump said.

He went on to say that not everyone who has the disease has it at the same level.

The number of cases across the United States has soared to more than 140 and nine people have now died from the disease in Washington state.

‘Some people have this at a very light level,’ the president said.

‘Young people seem to be, you can’t say immune to it but certainly their numbers seem to be very small. And it does affect the elder people in the nursing home situation,’ Trump said, referring to the nursing home in Washington state where nine people died from Coronavirus.
