In her role as Commodore-in-Chief of the Canadian navy, the Princess Royal, 69, will Visit HMCS Regina at sea, boarding in Vancouver and travelling to nearby Esquimalt on May 1.

Princess Anne will then attend a Canadian Fleet Pacific Dinner and the 75th Anniversary of End of Battle of Atlantic Parade.

She and her nephew will have plenty to catch up on, with Princess Anne reportedly set to take over Prince Harry’s military role in the Royal Marines, the Sunday Times reports.

The hard-working Princess Royal, 69, who lives at Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire, is already associated with 65 military organisations and currently Chief Commandant for Women in the Royal Navy.

She will reportedly become the first ever female Captain General of the Royal Marines, which has been relinquished by Prince Harry.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussexes resigned as senior royals in January in a move to become financially independent.

This week they returned to the UK to take part in their final royal engagements before returning to Canada.

The couple attended the Mountbatten Festival of Music and reunited with Prince William and Kate Middleton during the Commonwealth Day celebrations.

Last month, a source claimed the parents-of-one are  ‘genuinely happy’ living in Canada because ‘it’s a world away’ from their old life in the UK.

Speaking to US Weekly, the source said: ‘Harry and Meghan escaped the chaos back home and are genuinely happy. They’re really enjoying Canada; it’s a completely different world from what they’re used to in London.’

The couple lived in Kensington Palace in London when Meghan first came to the UK, before moving to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor after they married.

Since relocating to Vancouver Island the couple have the ‘freedom to do whatever they want’ because the locals ‘don’t bother them’, the source added.

Meghan also lived in Canada while filming legal drama Suits. In her now-defunct lifestyle blog The Tig, the former actress, who was born in Los Angeles, praised Toronto.

She wrote: ‘The people are so kind, I love the food scene and I really love exploring little nooks around the city with my two dogs.

‘I love how much green space there is tucked away. You wouldn’t expect that, and it reminds me of LA in a lot of ways.’
