European royal families have wished their nations a happy Easter via Instagram messages.
The Swedish palace led the way, sharing a sweet clip of their ‘virtual’ celebration on the official Kungahuset account yesterday.
It showed a four-way video call between King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel and their children, Prince Carl-Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden, along with their brood, as well as Princess Madeleine, her husband Chris O’Neill and their children – who are currently in Florida.
The family captioned the post: ‘Digital Easter celebration. Easter celebrations look different in many places this year. There are many who are not given the opportunity to meet loved ones. The royal family follows the recommendations and does not celebrate a common Easter.

On their separate Instagram page, Prince Carl-Philip and Princess Sofia shared a photograph of them with their two boys, Prince Alexander and Prince Gabriel, taking part in the call.
Their message read: ‘Happy Easter from us! Due to the current situation, we have to celebrate with the family digitally.’
Princess Madeleine also gathered her family for a group shot, which she shared with a colourful ‘Happy Easter’ banner and the hashtag #staysafe.

The caption for the clip read: ‘During the evening, funds were raised for the Radio Aid collection to organisations that make efforts in response to the Covid-19 pandemic in Sweden.’

In the snaps the green-fingered twosome can be seen planting spring flowers, while one shows Princess Gabriella posing beside an Easter-themed display.
Charlene wrote: ‘Sending healing and love to the world, we miss you, see you soon. Happy Easter.’
