When Kate Middleton wore a quilted vest last Tuesday, searches for the clothing item increased by 1,300 per cent. Most notably seen on Chanel’s iconic flap bag and Her Majesty, who loves a quilted jacket, this season the style has taken over. Designers including Mui Mui, Max Mara and Jonathan Anderson at Loewe featured quilting in their AW21 collections, and the high street has followed suit. Whether the traditional diamond pattern, or the new onion-shaped design — like on Mango’s collarless coat (below) — it’s a sleeker look than a bulky and padded puffer.
