‘Once it has been delivered they wont accept it back,’ she explained.

And while some people were thrilled for her others were left disappointed by the system which means the original shopper is left inconvenienced.

‘This happened to me last week – but I was the customer on the other end and it was really annoying.’ one man said.

‘$80 of My groceries never made it to me even though they were marked as being in stockpiled, packed, and delivered. Very hard as I have an eight-month-old that missed out on a lot of essentials and I was stuck with a severe migraine couldn’t see or move,’ one woman complained.

‘Now watch the deliveries like a hawk.’

In her post the woman alluded to the fact similar mix ups have worked in her favour before.

Others shared their stories of ending up with extra free groceries.

‘Happened to me a few weeks ago, I scored a whole grocery shop that wasn’t mine. I called them whilst it was still on the doorstep. They were going to come back and get it (they can as long as I haven’t take it inside) but then said I could keep it all and then delivered my shopping,’ she said.

But others say they wish it didn’t happen at all.

‘You miss out on things that are essential and get w whole lot of stuff you would never use. It is rather annoying.’

A Woolworths spokesperson said the company delivery drivers make hundreds of thousands of drop-offs every week.

‘If an order is accidentally delivered to the wrong address, we’ll arrange a new delivery to the correct address.

‘We’ll then work with the person who received the first order, offering for them to keep it to minimise food waste.’
