Savvy mum creates a stylish ‘mud room’ next to her front door with Kmart’s stunning (and VERY affordable) rattan furniture range

  • An Australian mum created a ‘mud room’ using Kmart’s rattan furniture range
  • The mum had left the space empty for a year before settling on the mud room
  • She used rattan sideboards ($75), the Kai cushion ($14), the Nerissa throw ($21)

An Australian mum has shared photos of the adorable ‘mud room’ she created in the alcove beside her home’s entrance using Kmart’s rattan furniture range.

‘A little decor project I’ve been working on,’ said photographer Taralee Fraley in a popular Facebook group.

‘We’ve been in our home for almost a year and I finally got around to doing something with this alcove beside the front door. Up until now, it’s just been a dumping ground, but now it’s a tidy dumping ground!’

The mum used two rattan sideboards ($75) and turned them into a bench seat by taking the legs off and attaching foam covered in the beige linen.

She also used multiple other products from the Kmart rattan range, including the rattan wall shelf ($20), the Kai cushion ($14), the Nerissa throw ($21) and the Herringbone runner ($21).

The complete room looks extremely light and airy – comfortably bathed in earthy and beige tones.

Hundreds commented on the post, with many complimenting Taralee’s excellent eye for home decor.

‘This looks absolutely stunning,’ wrote one mum. ‘You are incredible!’

‘Wow, this looks like it’s from a magazine shoot.’

‘So lovely!’ added a third. ‘You’ve given me such excellent ideas for an empty alcove in my house … maybe I will stop using it to dump empty grocery bags.’
