Social media speculations that Kate Moss and Johnny Depp will get back together after testimony

Are Kate Moss and Johnny Depp going to get back together? Social media exploded with speculation that the ’90s couple might reunite after she gave testimony defending her ex in his $100 million defamation trial against Amber Heard.

Notoriously-private Moss, 48, put aside her infamous hatred of interviews and the media in order to rush to Depp’s aid in court today, taking to the stand on his behalf and delivering a sensational blow to his ex-wife Heard’s case by squashing the actress’ claim that Depp once pushed his supermodel ex down a flight of stairs.

Now, many social media users are convinced that the pair – who was Hollywood’s ‘it’ couple when they dated from 1994 to 1998 – are going to reignite their former flame.

The internet was flooded with tweets from enthralled Twitter users who called Moss Depp’s ‘true love.’ One pointed out that Depp ‘lit up’ when he saw Moss on the screen, while another wondered if they still had romantic feelings for each other.

Others hoped that if they didn’t, the court case would bring back their love for one another and spark a reconciliation 25 years in the making.

The actor, 58, and the British entrepreneur were together for just over three years in the ’90s, and when Depp dumped Moss so he could focus his full attention on his career, she admitted she was devastated for ‘years’ over the breakup.

However, when she took the stand to defend her ex in court, it appeared as though she had nothing but warm feelings towards him, smiling at the mere thought of her past love with the movie star.

Depp also struggled to contain his joy, letting out a small grin as she spoke to the court room about their ’90s romance.

Many viewers of the trial – which is being livestreamed online – were quick to notice the exes’ happy compositions throughout the testimony, and they started to suggest that the pair should start dating again.

‘Can we petition for Kate Moss and Johnny Depp to get back together or nah?’ asked one user.

‘Hands up – who wants Johnny and Kate back together?’ said someone else.

Another person wrote, ‘You can tell Kate Moss still has love for Johnny.’

‘I would love to see Kate Moss and Johnny Depp reconnect and grow old together,’ added a different viewer.

A fifth tweet read, ‘I hope after this is over, Johnny realizes Kate was the one to marry as a life partner. I hope he phones her up and asks her out on dinner date.’

‘Why has Kate Moss decided to testify – does she still love Johnny? I hope and think so,’ gushed another user.

‘Johnny’s smile when Kate popped up on the screen? Y’all better get back together ’cause that cayute,’ read another tweet.

Someone else said, ‘Can we talk about how Johnny’s face lit sup after seeing her face on screen?’

‘This is true love and respect between two people,’ one person wrote.

‘Kate and Johnny made me realize at 62 that your first love ever will be loyal forever,’ tweeted a different social media user.

‘You might not be the best match then. That’s normal while discovering life and yourself. Nothing will ever be more pure, more honest, more you. Never ever.’

Body language expert Judi James analyzed the subtle movements in Moss’ face and expression while she was on the stand, which she said showed ‘residual warmth’ towards her former beau.

‘Asked, “Do you know Jonny Depp?” Kate’s very subtle facial movements suggest residual warmth at the memory. The right side of her mouth curls up in a subtle smile as she says, “Yes I do,”‘ James told DailyMail.com, while discussing Moss’ testimony.

Depp and Heard, 35 – who tied the knot in 2015, and were married for one year before Heard filed for divorce in 2016 – have been battling it out in court in recent weeks.

The trial, which is still underway in Virginia, is attempting to determine if a 2018 Washington Post essay written by Heard, in which she accused the actor of domestic abuse, defamed Depp.

During Heard’s testimony earlier this month, the actress alleged that Depp once shoved Moss down a flight of stairs – but according to Moss, the Hollywood heartthrob actually helped her after she accidentally slipped.

Heard made the claim while discussing an argument that she allegedly had with Depp at the top of a staircase, when she said her sister, Whitney Heard, stepped in between them.

‘She threw herself in the line of fire. She was trying to get Johnny to stop. Her back was to the staircase, and Johnny swings at her. I don’t hesitate and wait – I instantly think of Kate Moss and stairs,’ she said. ‘And I swung at him.’

Moss said during her testimony that Depp never ‘pushed her or threw her down any stairs,’ in fact, she said that he tended to her after she tripped during a trip they took to Jamaica together.

‘We were leaving the room and Johnny left the room before I did. There had been a rainstorm and as I left the room I slid down the stairs,’ she recalled, while testifying via video link.

‘I hurt my back, and I screamed because I didn’t know what had happened.’

She said Depp came running back to help her, adding that he ‘carried her to her room and got her medical attention.’

It's unclear whether or not Moss and Depp are still friends behind closed doors, but they haven't been seen together publicly since 1998 (pictured). However, a source told the New York Post that she has 'always been supportive of the actor' in the wake of his trial

When asked directly by Depp’s team if the Pirates of the Caribbean star ever pushed her down the stairs, Moss replied, ‘No.’

‘No, he never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs,’ she told the court.

Moss and Depp started dating after they met at a New York City café. And as two of the biggest names in Hollywood, the stars’ high-profile romance quickly became one of the most talked about pairings of the time.

After they split, Moss had nothing but nice things to say about her ex, telling Vanity Fair that there was no one who took care of her like Depp did. However, she admitted that losing him was hard.

‘There’s nobody that’s ever really been able to take care of me. Johnny did for a bit,’ she said in the interview, which came out in 2012.

‘I believed what he said. Like if I said, “What do I do?” he’d tell me. And that’s what I missed when I left.

‘I really lost that gauge of somebody I could trust. Nightmare. Years and years of crying. Oh, the tears!’

As for why they went their separate ways, Depp later told Hello magazine that he struggled to balance his busy work schedule with their relationship.

‘I have never got that emotional over a woman before,’ he said. ‘I have been so stupid because we had so much going for our relationship.

‘I’m the one who has to take responsibility for what happened – I was difficult to get on with, I let my work get in the way and I didn’t give her the attention I should have done.

‘The whole thing was crazy because I should never have got so worked up over what people had to say about my work.

‘Sure I should care about my movies, but when I get home I should try to leave that stuff behind. I couldn’t do that and I was horrific to live with. Trust me, I’m a total moron at times.’

However, a source told the New York Post that she has ‘always been supportive of the actor’ in the wake of his trial.

The insider said Heard assumed Moss was on her side when she brought up the alleged stair incident in court earlier this month, but instead, they claimed ‘that couldn’t be further from the truth.’

‘Amber mentioned an ex of Johnny’s that clearly she felt was not supportive of him, which couldn’t be further from the truth,’ the insider dished.

If Depp and Moss did get back together, they wouldn’t be the first popular old-school couple to reunite.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were the talk of the town when they dated throughout the early 2000s, but they went their separate ways in 2004.

However, the exes shocked the world when they were seen hanging out again in early 2021 – nearly 17 years after they split.

By May 2021, they were officially back on – they were caught packing on the PDA while vacationing together in Montana – and they got engaged in April of this year.

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston tied the knot in July 2000, but went their separate ways five years later.

However, the internet was in an uproar after they were photographed reuniting at the SAG Awards in 2020.

The pair was seen smiling warmly at one another while clutching hands backstage at the event, which caused a firestorm of social media posts about the possibility of them getting back together.

However, in the end, it appeared that was just a friendly run-in. Anniston later called all the buzz about her and her ex ‘hysterical.’
